Visited the The Britannia Music Hall (The Panopticon) in Trongate, Glasgow, the oldest surviving music hall in the world. “Built in 1857 by Thomas Gildard and H. M. McFarlane, it has hosted some of the biggest names on the Music hall circuit.
In 1906 Stan Laurel made his first stage appearance there on amateur night. In that same year A. E. Pickard bought the building and changed its name to the Panopticon. He also undertook some major works, installing a freak show, a roof top carnival and a waxworks. He also excavated the basement and installed an indoor zoo.
The Panopticon was one of the first buildings in Glasgow become powered by electricity and one of the first cinemas in Scotland. It closed in 1938 when it was sold to a tailors and converted to a workshop. It is currently being conserved by a trust who regularly perform traditional shows in the auditorium. It is now protected as a category A listed building.” (Photo by Tom Manley)

Old photo, same feeling. I have been wandering in the woods alone and shooting a lot lately. I feel like I’m full of inspiration for this Autumn, just like when I took this photo years ago. 🍂

Happy Saturday, everyone! I started today off with three hours of beach volleyball. I used to play four days a week in Santa Cruz and I'd almost forgotten how much fun it is. Speaking of days that started off right, here's another shot from the 17th of July, when the full moon set over the Sierra at dawn. What a gorgeous start to the morning to witness that alignment. In this photo, a single exposure, you can see June Mountain ski resort (even the chair lifts at full res), San Joaquin Mountain, Banner Peak, and Mt Ritter. I'll be teaching a class on how to create photos like these at the upcoming Mammoth Photo Festival (@mammothphotofest). Check out the details on their IG page, including the insane line up of speakers, including Pete McBride (Nat Geo), Frans Lanting (Nat Geo), Christina Mittermeier (Nat Geo), and so many more.

Facade lettering. ❤ Maybe for some this is like nothing special, but to me this is everything.
