What a gorgeous day today to be on site and check the progress of this latest job in Wembley Downs, and the site looks great and a credit to @formviewbuilding. While I was there I even had time for a quick bite on the coast @hamptonscitybeach, the beach was in fine form, flat as a pancake. Looking forward to Spring and Summer and many more jobs to come.
Initial concept walk through for this latest Hamptons project in Ardross... getting there , still a bit of tweaking to go before it’s ready.
My latest concept in Ardross. This style is not necessarily my preferred style as you all probably know by now , but I’m always up for a challenge and make a design as good as humanly possible. The beginning of this project was quite difficult getting my head around the sheer size of this home, then the brief, and style. Pondering over the floor plan, changing , starting again... tweaking. At least three weeks of investigation and research to try and get the right proportions , style and materials, but can finally say I am happy with the initial design concept so far.
Ready for construction by @hardy_constructions and @kitchen_haus ! This existing Mt Hawthorn home was in much need of a makeover and this is the result of our work. Facelift to the front of the home , stripping back decades of tasteless fashion and trends , back to its stylish character style. To the rear 2 bedrooms, bathroom, family, kitchen , laundry and alfresco were added , and now providing a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom home with two living area’s and an abundant outdoor living / entertaining area, accompanied by a private courtyard to the rear guest bedroom. @adamdproperty_realmark @timkinnear #perthhomes @kate_kinnear
This is one of my favourite projects, it was a referral for two brothers, designing two homes , one at the front and one to the rear. Apart from the proximity to the beach and the spectacular views it was about the journey and how it all began........ I met them on site in late 2013, to discuss design options, views etc.... the only issue being that neither of the brothers had decided who was going to have which parcel of land.... they said they were going to have an evening and toss for it! I said “ bugger that, I need to know before I start designing” so I took a 50 cent coin ( which I still have to this day) and tossed it in the air ( tails front block , heads back block) guess what? @gardinerjarod got the front block and his brother Matt got the rear block and they moved in 2016. This is the beautiful part of my dare to say job, when you can be part of something so important in peoples lives ....and end up being friends. “Was a pleasure working with u mate from the coin toss until the end,I highly recommend Dorian Morelli designs 👍🏼💯”
Site meeting at Wembley Downs project with @formviewbuilding A Designers roll shouldn’t end at the completion of the plans. Putting on the work boots and being involved throughout the process makes for a better outcome, checking on quality, finishes, assisting the builder with queries, possible design tweaks but most of all learning, how things are put together, how materials interact with each other, finishes , asking what contractors would prefer to see on plans, all this making for a better designer.
Design and DA complete for this project in Woodlands. This project has been in the pipeline for a while, tweaking and always improving. The site is a difficult one to say the least , it rises very dramatically to the rear, and most of the homes on the street all have a very similar solution, but not settling for “typical” this solution not only enhances the site but is also the best use of the site going by the clients brief, block orientation and city views.
This project is at the completion of the documentation stage, WD nearly completed. It’s has been an interesting journey from site meeting, design phase , DA, council meetings then selections.... couldn’t of asked for better clients, they have been very trusting and accepting of my suggestions which has been very rewarding , like I have always said whether an Architect or Building Designer , your only as good as your client will let you be .... Looking forward to the construction phase and continuing the journey with my clients ..🙌🏻🙏
Always tweaking and improving the design... has to be just right. As a design develops I have found over the years it always gets better with time, the more you put it down and walk away and come back to it, there is always an improvement made.
One of my favourite designs over the last few years, this rural mid century luxury home . Designed in collaboration with fengshui expert @astrolog_light this home has all the positive properties of fengshui.
Skywalker pen 🖊 presentation evening at Montblanc . Another great evening of good food, wine, company and beautifully designed quality products at the Perth Montblanc boutique.
Latest project in Dianella .... a few weeks to this concept stage, client extremely happy and can’t wait to get the building process going.... will also be used as a display home... exciting times ahead!
A dmd design from over 12 years ago... still one of my favourites....was a very difficult site with a very steep slope towards the rear, very narrow, so there were a lot of site issues to take into consideration, we decided on a split level two story single from the front, double to the rear. The solution was spot on.....as you can see, good design is timeless.
Renovation: First photo is the completed project and if you scroll across you can see why it was in dire need of a facelift:)
Proud to present this latest project in Shelley. Single story residence with roof terrace, to take in the gorgeous river and city views. Brief was quite detailed and elaborate. The client runs small meditation classes from home so natural northerly light was imperative, also coming from a dark home made it even more important. Segregation of the layout for her young family so everyone had their own spaces was high on the brief and fitting all of this on a 487m /12m frontage with North facing the front of the property was an awesome challenge. After our initial meeting with the owner and Bellagio Homes , it seems we have ticked all the boxes with this initial concept.

Latest project in Mt Hawthorn. Early stages of design concept. This project is from a client I designed a home for over 10 years ago, it’s truly an honour and privilege not only to be engaged to design a client’s home but to do it twice is a great feeling. Great to see a happy client that keeps coming back:)
This 1930s renovation in Claremont is now ready for construction... the clients had a very detailed brief, with certain spaces and finishes they wanted, It certainly has been a very educational journey using an array of different materials and finishes. We have also included some imported Italian thermally broken argon filled double glazing , which look unbelievable, this will definitely be a stand out renovation in the heart of Claremont.
