Breaking: LATE YESTERDAY XR received notice that THE COMMUNITY has been LOCKED OUT of the Melbourne Consultation on Regional Forest Agreements by the Victorian Department of Environment due to our planned protest.

The consultation event was THE COMMUNITY’S CHANCE to SAY NO to the LOGGING OF NATIVE FORESTS & SPECIES DESTRUCTION that these Agreements currently allow. SHAME! Why won’t they let the people have a say?

The consultation is cancelled, but XR’s action will go ahead! XR will be holding a die in and vigil at the Royal Society, 8 La Trobe Street, Melbourne from 4:30pm to bring public awareness to the declining state of our native wildlife that the Agreements allow.

There will be an enactment of ‘dying trees’ – a depiction of what happens when forests are clear felled. Speakers from regional communities will tell us what the Agreements have meant for the forests they live in, and what ways forward are possible.

Bring your placards: STOP LOGGING NATIVE FORESTS. ABOLISH RFAs. LOGGING DRIVES WILDLIFE TO EXTINCTION. EXTINCTION IS FOREVER.

Link to event in bio: cya tonight, Rebels! 💚
