I had all day to go grocery shopping and of course it didn’t happen😏 but I made it work for at least breakfast, lunch, and a snack! 🐧What to do after a binge. - 🐧The binge cycle is something I'm a little too familiar with. More familiar than I'd like to admit. During my morbidly obese days, it would start from an "innocent" diet. - 🐧Why "innocent" in quotation marks? Cos the diet wasn't innocent at all, the diet was the sole cause of the binge. Ok ok we're jumping ahead, where were we, ah yes. It starts from the diet... - 🐧.. and so I'd be on the diet, all is fine and dandy. It would feel like this time I've really got it. All I gotta do follow these super strict rules, workout a certain amount every week and it's an easy road to weight loss, right? Um.. yeah I wish. - 🐧Everything would feel fine till about day 3 or day 4. I think that's usually when my brain starts a count down "ugh, how many more days am I supposed to do this?" and everyday onward those thoughts get more and more intense. It's different with every diet, but there would be a point where I snap. And when I snap, I binge. - 🐧It's scarier to snap when I'm out and about rather than snapping at home. If I snap at home, there's only so much food I can binge on. If I snap while I'm outside? Oh boy, I'm just buying whatever I can get my hands on and stuffing it into my mouth. I'd stop when the guilt starts to take over. And.. it doesn't take over that fast. It takes a while. - 🐧Then I'm just left there, self loathing. Disgusted with myself. Wanting to make it better somehow. Consider purging. Consider going on a doubly more strict diet and workout to 'make up' for the binge. But usually end up just doing nothing but with my head down at another failed diet. And wait another few months to muster enough motivation to start a new one. - 🐧The thing is, there’s only one thing to do after a binge. - 🐧Get back on track. - 🐧There’s no need to “fix”, “recover” or “punish” anything. It happens. - 🐧Learn from it. 🐧Acknowledge it. 🐧Get back on track. - 🐧Binged on 1 meal? That’s 1/21 meals over a week. Really, really not enough to make a significant different. - 🐧Quit now? That’s forever. - 🐧Get back on track? - 🐧That’s just inching closer and closer towards your goals. - 🐧Do you eat more during weekends?
