What does it take to bring our whole self into a movement? How do we participate in our activist and community spaces without self censorship? What does healing look like? Please join me for my second time hosting the Peace and Social Justice Hour Friday March 30 at noon on 90.1 KZFR for a conversation with activist and community organizer Iraya Robles. We’ll be discussing community building through intersectional feminism and how recent developments in activism can apply to smaller communities. Iraya is also the brilliant human that encouraged me to read #emergentstrategy which continues to be one of the most pivotal books in my life. So much gratitude to the people and minds that are guiding me right now. Image repost from the brilliant @vent_diagrams

Another principle of #emergentstrategy : there is always enough time for the right work. How often are timelines and a false sense of urgency used to justify harmful and oppressive actions? How often do we close ourselves to liberatory possibilities because we convince ourselves there isn’t time for all that dismantling and reimagining? That there isn’t time to gather everyone at the table and question the roots of our decisions? When we work from the heart, time opens up. (I learned that at a #storytellingstrategiestodismantleracism training). There is always enough time for the right work. These are the thoughts I sit with as activists block construction of the youth jail in #seattle. If we don’t start healing now, then when? When will we be ready to step back and follow the leadership of communities of color, the youth most impacted by our incredibly harmful and traumatizing system of incarceration. Again: which youth are we willing to show up for and rally behind? #nonewyouthjail (Thank you to the organizers, the youth, and @adriennemareebrown for the language)

We love this quote from @adriennemareebrown's book #emergentstrategy! They attended a #peoplessupper at the Obama summit! You can host or attend a supper too!-- Check out the link in our bio to find out how! #peoplessupper

My contest entry for #shelfie shows how #ppspringreads and specifically #movementmatters fits in the context of personal, community and global #change. If "we are how we move," let's examine that in our minds, bodies, hearts, relationships & communities. We can learn to be more resilient and ready for #change. What do you want to move? How do you want to move and be moved? Who will you move with? Where are you going? #nutritiousmovement is a path that starts with self and can take you anywhere and everywhere. #buddhist #taoist #qi #movement #possibilities #vitamincommunity #wereinthistogether #dynamicaging #emergentstrategy #complementarymedicine #booksforthelibrary
