Last night's stormy sunset in Wetaskiwin.

I had to maneuver about 25km around this storm to get into position for this shot.

I used the rain core which was being unleashed over Wetaskiwin as a light diffuser for the beautiful sunset light, and then managed to catch a lightning strike as well. Such a great evening out in the country south of Edmonton.

I am out hunting new things, and places to photograph, but here are some rocks and some water for you to keep you here🤪😉 📷Sony Alpha 6000, Samyang 12mm, Kenko filters, and Dolica tripod.

A typical summer scene on the prairies as a storm passes over a farm in the Calmar, Alberta area yesterday.

Not much bite to this storm as it never quite made it to severe warned status, however it drop pea sized hail between here and Beaumont, and I did measure some wind gusts upwards of 70 km/h.

Thanks for looking!

More lightning today, this time from over a farm near Waldeck, Saskatchewan, as we watched this storm start to die off in the evening hours, which at one point was tornado warned.

Shooting on location with @shane_turgeon.

Dont forget the telephoto.

When photographing landscapes, the first instinct is to use the widest lens to fit in as much of the scene as possible. However, a super telephoto lens is a valuable tool to isolate some of those landscapes.

All of these images were shot using the @nikoncanada 200-500 mm.

1) Icefields Parkway - Alberta
2) Dorset - Ontario
3) Grande Cache - Alberta
4) Edmonton - Alberta
5) Jasper - Alberta
6) Bracebridge - Ontario
7) Cochrane - Alberta
8) Jasper - Alberta

Which is your favourite? Do you use a telephoto for landscapes, let me know below.
