"Am I crazy for thinking I could ever be more than what I am right now? They said I was wrong when I spoke aloud my dreams, of letting my songs carry me across the open seas." -Angie Keilhauer

Has anyone read stories about detective DI Rebus? I just picked up this complete short story collection of this detective by Ian Rankin. I had read good reviews about this about this book and can't wait to start!!! But since its a short story collection, i will read few of it first and let you know how it is. #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagramindia #bibliophile #booklover #bookslove #crime #mystery #thriller #detectiveDIRebus #ianrankin #thebeatgoeson #shortstories #crimefiction

Alright I think this definitely solidifies my nerd credentials. I did search out the bookstores in Key West. I liked this old used book store. They were very nice.

"Our lives are like a complex musical score, Tsukuru thought. Filled with all sorts of cryptic writing, sixteenth and thirty-second notes and other strange signs. It's next to impossible to correctly interpret these, and even if you could, and then could transpose them into the correct sounds, there's no guarantee that people would correctly understand, or appreciate, the meaning therein. No guarantee it would make people happy. Why must the workings of people's lives be so convoluted?" #colorlesstsukurutazakiandhisyearsofpilgrimage #harukimurakami #colorless #colors #bookishrainbow #bookstagram #bookstagramfeature #igreads #books #reading #bibliophile #booknerd

Hausfrau by Jill Essbaum is a psychological fiction about a depressive, narcissist named Anna, living in Zurich.
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoy the writers use of strong imagery, but dislike how Anna's actions are dealt with. Essbaum punishes her in what seems awfully like the moralistic plots of a more paternalistic age.
In German lessons (she is American), Anna learns about the simple past tense and the present perfect, and Essbaum has Anna ask herself: But how often is the past simple? Is the present ever perfect?
I don't know if I'm being prickly but Essbaum has deep roots in religious belief. It makes me wonder, is that what's going on here? Some kind of crypto-religious ethical parable, dressed up to look like psychological inevitability?

If you want a well-written, complicated fiction read, give it a try. But this one wasn't a winner to me. #bookstagram #2016Reading #bookreview #gogreek #booklover #bookshelf
