Cheat days are probably the best way to absolutely ruin your relationship with food.

Locking foods up that you can only eat on a ‘Cheat day’ is really really really poor from a mindset perspective.... it’s one way ticket to developing potential eating disorders.

I still see people giving out cheat days... which to me makes no sense. If someone is dieting and hungry do you really think opening the flood gates is a smart idea?! I don’t think it is.

As a coach you have a duty of care. Sure the goal is to get you client in shape but at what cost? Build healthy relationships with the foods you eat in a offseason phase and take that into a prep.

Refeeds should be used as a tool in a dieting phase but cheat days have no place in my opinion especially if you actually want to continue making progress; who wants to gain 5lbs and go backwards? No one, so the next time you think a cheat day is a good idea question yourself, question yourself again, don’t have the cheat day and don’t screw your relationship with food up.
