ʙʟᴀᴄᴋ ʜɪsᴛᴏʀʏ ᴍᴏɴᴛʜ • only in solidarity can we crush the system and create LASTING liberation for Black and Brown communities. If your activism and your “progressive” politics doesn’t include protecting Black bodies and recognizing that Black communities deserve reparations... you’re not liberal, you’re just as complacent and harmful as White supremacist America. Black History Month exists because dominant narratives and mainstream American education do not want to teach our communities the gritty truth of America’s continuous genocide and erasure.

Turns out that there is a v cute and v aesthetic orange tree behind the @scuoml house, so ofc it had to be the place where I could show off my new @18millionrising #asians4blacklives shirt!!! (Which also comes in a dope sticker form!!!) . . . Major s/o to @its_jacqui_not_jackie for photo creds but also posing me on top of a table so I could actually reach the oranges ❤️😂😅 . . Asians for Black Lives on MLK day and every day (shirt H/T @18millionrising ). Its worth remembering that toward the end of his too short life MLK was radicalizing his views toward an internationalist analysis of the intersections of racism classism and militarization, and that toward the end of his too short life Malcolm X told Coretta Scott King that he hoped his own politics gave MLK more cover to gain support for civil rights. The project of a multiracial united front for Black freedom and racial justice is ongoing....Isulong! . . . #MLKday #martinlutherking #civilrights #BlackFreedom #BlasianUnity #MalcolmX #YuriKochiyama #multiracialunity #18mr #18millionrising

#Solidarity ✊🏽✊🏼✊🏿✊🏻✊🏾⚡️ Never forget that communities of color have successfully mobilized TOGETHER for decades in our demands for justice, in terms of both collective marginalization shared amongst all people of color, as well as #showingup for our brothers and sisters’ race-specific oppression even if such issues might not directly affect ourselves (now that’s real allyship!). As current conversations on race become more prevalent and thus more widely debated, consider how more voices is not a bad thing, so long as we remember to ⚠️ listen to each other just as much as we shout. ⚠️ I am hopeful that we can find new avenues to address race relations that seek to foster multicultural allyship and to hear from *all* voices, even those “in the margins” with opinions that might not be the most popular, for any true chance at reaching full social equity and inclusivity requires ALL of our participation (or else it is not equitable at all). Particular to this shirt, we must take conversations regarding tensions amongst POC (e.g. antiblackness, antiasianness, antilatinx rhetoric) a step further by examining what ideologies/patterns persist in our communities to perpetuate such conflicts, how we each can do better to make our communities stronger, and how to talk amongst the isles so everyone in the room is heard. Most challenging of all, we must locate and remember the uninhibited value of human difference; such difference, while tough at times, allows for diversity in all colors, cultures, ideas, and voices, to foster. 🌱 To successfully coalesce as communities of color, we need not one single, homogenized viewpoint, agenda, or public statement... we need only the shared endgoal of #JUSTICE and a genuine, persistent determination to keep developing and refining our shared missions of equity, unity, and respect. 💪🏽💥 (Amazing art by @nataliepbui, purchased limited edition from @18millionrising. As @freshofftheboatabc season premiere approaches (it’s this Friday), I wanted to highlight last season’s episode, “We need to talk about Evan.” If you haven’t watched this episode (season 4 episode 15), I found it informative and helpful in addressing misconceptions about wellness and counseling. As a therapist, I will be sharing an insight a day until the premiere! I would love to hear your thoughts on the episode as well. Insight 1: Unacknowledged and unprocessed feelings will get themselves expressed. Despite us not being aware or our best efforts to ignore them, feelings will find a way to express themselves, sometimes, unexpectedly and inappropriately. If we don’t find ways to process and express feelings in healthy ways, like Evan, we end up acting out. Luckily in this episode, it was just glitter that Evan was throwing, nobody got seriously hurt, and Evan got the help he needed. However, this acting out could have been more severe. Some people might act out by becoming physically or verbally aggressive and violent towards others. Some people might not necessarily act out, but will act in as a way to cope. These coping mechanisms can range from numbing with food to addiction to electronics, alcohol, drugs, porn, gambling to disordered eating to self-harm. #asianamerican #freshofftheboat #asianmentalhealthmatters #therapy #psychotherapy #culturallyinformed #mentalhealth #api #asiantherapists #therapistofcolor #wellness #18millionrising
