I’m and thrilled to announce that I will be one of the 25 photographers teaching at the @mammothphotofest this October 10-13 and if you use the code BURST15 you can get 15% of your tickets. While there I will be leading a photographer excursion and meetups, giving a Key note talk about the Art of Story Telling in Social Media and participate on panel that will discuss the Business of Photography. This event is guaranteed to be worth your time. Follow the link on the @mammothphotofest page to sign up and I hope to see you there.
Photo: This was taken by first connecting my camera to my phone via an app, then mounting my camera on a tripod how I wanted to frame the photo, walking over to the spot I wanted to stand and taking the photo remotely with phone controlling the camera. Basically it is a complicated selfie

How has Social Media changed your relationship with the outdoors?

Photographed: a particularly stunning location in the Dolomites of Italy. Although it did take me awhile to find, which I really enjoyed, when I found it i was like,” Yep. There it is” It is stunning and I enjoyed it but I do wish I never knew it was there until I stumbled upon it. I love exploration and the unknown and I guess that is why I prefer to avoid the popular places and go find places I didn’t know existed..... but still this was awesome and I’m stoked I could see this place for myself.

Don’t let anyone ever tell you that once you have a kid your adventures/travel will be a thing of the past. You are the one that will decide that and no one else.
When @rebornbyadventure decided to go have a girls day out with her friends, I decide to go have a Daddy daughter date/hike with my little lady @moonmountainlife . We joined my buddy Sam and his puppy to go hike up Mt. Borah. It is the tallest mountain in Idaho and also would become the highest point my daughter has ever been (12,662 ft) The trail gains 5,200 ft in 4 miles. It was brutal and I dont know how many more times I’ll be willing to carry her to the top of a mountain before she gets too heavy but I’m happy to have done this to make another memory with her that I will never forget.

This last week while on a 5 day backpacking trip in Wyoming, I was standing there taking a few photos while my daughter ( @moonmountainlife ) was holding my hand and tugging on me to keep going. I simply couldn’t resist taking this shot of this moment although it mirrors a popular trend of photo compositions. I wasn’t trying for this, but this is just a photo of a real moment of my 2 year old wanting me to go with her to explore our wild spaces. I hope she will always want me to go with her. Thank you my baby girl.

Today is a day a deep thought for me. It's funny how somedays, the direction in my life seems to make sense and then others, I feel so lost and confused. I guess that is the result ofwanting explore what life really can offer instead of taking the well trodden paths. Deep down I love and I'll look back with fondness on the process but in the moment... Yeah.
Here is a photo of one of the best experiences I've ever had as a result of going into the unknown down a river on @alpacka_raft with some great friends
