Purple shampoo can be a WONDERFUL tool for keeping unwanted tones away. Sometimes though, if it’s not used properly and/or on the right canvas, you won’t get the results you’re looking for. Here are some pointers on how to be successful with purple shampoo! 💜DO use it if you’re seeing yellow tones in your hair. Not orange...YELLOW. Purple shampoo will not do anything for orange tones. Think of the color wheel...purple is opposite of yellow, so that is the tone it will neutralize. If your hair is looking orange and “brassy” you will have much better luck using BLUE shampoo. Blue neutralizes orange. If you have some GOLD (orangy-yellow) in your hair, mix purple and blue shampoo together! 💜DO use a purple shampoo that is vibrant, dark, and rich in color. In this video I’m using @matrix SoSilver. If your purple shampoo is more lavender colored, it won’t do much. They should be super pigmented! 💜DO use a good, deep moisturizing hair mask along with your shampoo at least once a week. 💜DON’T use it as a daily shampoo. Stick to once a week, or you run the risk of drying out your hair and/or “overtoning” it, giving it a dull appearance. If you’re prone to dryness, try purple conditioner instead! 💜DON’T forget to prebook your regular appointments with your stylist to keep your hair looking and feeling as good as possible. Purple shampoo helps, but it definitely can’t complete with getting a gloss and a treatment with your stylist 💜 . Hope this helps! Tag a bestie who needs this! ✌🏻 . . . . #matrixpartner #sosilver

3 tips to the perfect hairline paint: . 1️⃣Make sure your lightener is on the thicker side to avoid it bleeding through those finer hairs, which will create spots or lines. . 2️⃣Make sure you use a lower developer to avoid damage/breakage on these finer hairs. I usually start with 10 or 20 vol and then bump up to 20 or 30 when I get to thicker hair. . 3️⃣Don’t forget to paint the bottom. If you just paint the sides, there will be a dark hole right in the back/middle when they pull their hair up. . TAG A BESTIE if you found this helpful!
One of my fave transformations, not gonna lie. Painting on virgin hair is a stylists dream come true! Clients, it’s important to keep in mind that results like this are not always possible in one session. Most of the time transformations like this can take 2-3 sessions. Especially if you have long and/or thick hair, or if your stylist is dealing with previous color. Trust the process 🙌🏻 . Wedding/blonding season is in full force and I’m here for it 🙌🏻 . It had been months since my girl came in for more than a touch up, and it was definitely time to bring some brightness back through the back/interior and hairline. I painted her hairline and added some interior brightness, did teasylights through the top, then shampooed with @matrix #SoSilver to kick out some yellow. Then we did a root smudge/gloss and voila! Wedding ready 👌🏻 . . . . . . . . . #matrixpartner #totalresults #brassoff #matrix #purpleshampoo
