Book review
I was sent an eArc of this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I was so excited to read this book because I'd heard such good things about it but unfortunately I hated it.
The characters were so bland & uninteresting. I didn't connect with them at all. Violet was so needy & clingy & obsessed with Robin & her friends it was ridiculous. Its like she couldn't or didn't want to make her own choices or be her own person.

The plot was had the opportunity to be interesting but I found it boring & dull.
In all this book was a disappointment for me. I really wanted to like it but I just don't.
If you are looking for something witchy or something with dark magic I recommend this book.

This is my September wrap up. I was in a reading slump last month & I still feel a bit slumpy this month but hopefully it goes away. I do have a couple announcements.
.
First of all for mine & @coffeebooksandjournals book club (coffeebooksandwine) our October pick is Carrie by Stephen King & I'm so excited for it! We have a GoodReads group where we discuss our thoughts while reading & after.
.
Second I have my Scribd link in my bio & if you sign up with it you get two free months & I get one free month. Honestly in my opinion its better than Audible because you get more books. .
How was your reading in September? What was the best book you read?

I was sent a finished copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest thoughts.
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

This book is a middle grade fantasy.
I was shocked when the publisher reached out to me to review this book but I'm so glad they did! This book is definitely one of my favorite books of the year & possibly of all time. The book even came signed & personalized!
This book has been compared to Harry Potter which I sort of agree with due to a few similarities such as a magical school, the chosen one trope & someone trying to kill the chosen one. However the similarities stop there. The magic system in this book is complex & unique. I've never seen a magic system done like this before & I love it.
I love the characters (except the bad guys because obviously they are bad & meant to be hated). I love seeing Ivy go from shy to out going! She's so adventurous. I love her two friends Fyn & Rebecca & how even though they don't remember some of the things Ivy tells them (if you've read the book you know) they still stay by her side & help her even though its dangerous. I love her pet scaldron (basically a dragon used for cooking) named Humboldt. I love seeing new creatures like the hairies (fairies that provide light). I love the plot of this book & how well it was written & all the adventure & mysteries. I did however find myself tearing up at some parts (such as when Ivy's friend Rimbrick disappears). I definitely recommend this book to anyone of any age especially if you like middle grade fantasy!
Thank you to the publisher @storiesuntoldpress for reaching out to me & sending me this book! Thank you to the author @author.denight for signing/personalizing it for me!

Hi all. I'm back & I've made some changes to my account, but first look at my copy of the 30th edition of Hatchet that my boyfriend got me for my birthday ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’• I discovered Hatchet thanks to him & I'm so glad I did. I absolutely love this edition. Anyway back to my account, firstly I changed my name from books_with_wine_ to books_and_wonder_ as I felt I should have a name that fits my account better & since I couldn't seem to settle I had my boyfriend help me & this is what he came up with & I definitely think it fits my account better. Secondly I'm trying to be more active not just with posting but liking & commenting. I also decided to try a flatlay photo & I'd like to know your thoughts. I plan to take some pictures to post this weekend. I'd like to know your thoughts on how to better improve my photos (props, style, ect). I'd also like to say thank you for helping me reach 400 followers. .

My August/NEWTs wrap-up. I read a total of 22 books. 14 comic volumes, 4 ebooks & 4 physical books. Some of my favorites of the month were all of the volumes of Giant Days, The Guilty Mother & House Of Salt & Sorrow. My least favorite was The Girl Before You. I completed all 12 of the required NEWTs exams I needed to be a Mind Medic. You might wonder why Narnia keeps popping up in my tbrs & wrap-ups, its a bind up of all of the Narnia books & I'm reading one a month. This month I plan to have an easy reading month as I'm feeling quite slumpy. August has been my best reading month by far. I am trying to get back into posting however it may be only once a week or so until I am feeling better.
